Iris in perfumery
Iris does not smell of the flower but of the root, the rhizome dried for years: a powdery, cool, slightly earthy note that recalls rice powder, lipstick or violet. It is one of the most expensive materials in perfumery. It gives fragrances a cool, highly refined elegance, on its own or alongside woods, musks and leathers.
