P.Frapin & Cie translates more than seven centuries of Charente winemaking know-how into perfume, with the patience of a cognac house. 1270, L’Humaniste and Checkmate are available at Sayhar, on rue de Marignan in the 8th, or to order online.

    About P. Frapin & Cie

The story of the Frapin family begins in Charente in 1270. Winegrowers from one generation to the next, they now farm an estate of around 240 hectares in the heart of Grande Champagne, the premier cru of cognac, where the chalky soils give the eaux-de-vie their distinctive depth. In 2004, the house decided to bring the same respect for terroir and time to perfume. Its past holds a few surprises: the family claims kinship with François Rabelais, the great Renaissance humanist, honoured by the quill in the logo, as well as a coat of arms granted under Louis XIV to his apothecary Pierre Frapin. Each fragrance tells a chapter of this story. 1270 celebrates the family’s arrival in Charente and Folle Blanche, a historic emblematic grape variety, through notes of grape, burnt vine shoots and candied fruit. 1270 Extrême offers a more intense reading, with honey, pineapple and tonka bean. L’Humaniste brings back to life the curious, tolerant spirit of Rabelais. These compositions are crafted with the same patience that goes into ageing cognac in the cellars.

    P. Frapin & Cie perfumes available at Sayhar

1270: an ambery, liqueur-like gourmand, between candied fruit and elegant warmth.

1270 - Extrême: the intense version of 1270, more honeyed, more ambery, more addictive.

6 Hours to Rio: mango, ginger and citrus, a heart of spiced rose, then a woody base.

Bois Blanc: a bright, pared-back wood, with an elegant, soothing freshness.

Checkmate: a cerebral, powdery leather, between luminous radiance and sophisticated softness.

Isle of Man: bitter orange, grapefruit and basil, a heart of salt, violet and freesia, then vetiver and musk.

L’Humaniste: Amalfi lemon, cardamom and peppers, a heart of juniper, thyme and peony, then a gin accord and tonka bean.

The Last Fight: a gourmand, leathery amber, between fruity brightness and resinous warmth, telling of the moment fear turns into strength.

Which P. Frapin & Cie perfume should you choose?

Lovers of liqueur notes should start with 1270, then move on to 1270 Extrême for more intensity. On the fresh side, L’Humaniste plays the gin and tonic card, Isle of Man the sea air and 6 Hours to Rio a spicy exoticism. Bois Blanc goes for a clear, soothing woodiness. Finally, Checkmate and The Last Fight explore leather, amber and resins for a bolder sillage. All bottles are 100 ml.
