The Kilian house
Founded in 2007, Kilian Paris was born out of an extraordinary legacy: its creator is an eighth-generation descendant of Richard Hennessy, founder of the cognac house of the same name. Rather than joining the family business, he chose perfumery. His final thesis at Celsa already focused on the language of scents. He then trained under Jacques Cavallier and Thierry Wasser, before spending several years at Dior and Armani. The turning point came at the Baccarat Museum: standing before a century’s worth of bottles designed as works of art, he realised what perfumery had lost along the way, and resigned from his position the very next day. His conviction hinges on a single idea: true luxury must be sustainable. That is why every Kilian Paris bottle has been refillable from day one, long before sustainability became a selling point. The creations play on dualities, sin and innocence, shadow and light, love and the forbidden, and are grouped into families with evocative names: Liqueurs, Narcotic Flowers, Cellar Woods, Whirls of Smoke and Fresh Citrus.
