Fortis

by Sonia Constant
A dark, sacred smoke, between burning incense and deep woods. Fortis is a dense, intense perfume that suggests a dark, almost mystical material. It feels like a burning blend of woods, resins and incense, like thick smoke slowly unfurling in the air.

Powerful
The fragrance

Fortis feels like a burning blend of woods, resins and incense, like thick smoke slowly unfurling in the air. The mood is deep, serious, almost spiritual.

From the start, the fragrance asserts something powerful, with dark, resinous notes that create an almost sacred feeling. Then it develops woody, spicy nuances that strengthen its character. It never really turns soft; it stays intense, with real presence.

Over time, Fortis settles into something deep and embracing, almost hypnotic, with a dark warmth that lingers on the skin for a long time. This is a perfume that does not try to please easily, but rather to make its mark and impose a strong atmosphere.

The brand

Liquides Imaginaires is a French artistic perfume house founded in 2012 by Philippe Di Méo, a designer, and David Frossard, Artistic Director. In Antiquity, perfume was addressed to the gods before it was addressed to people. It is this original dimension, sacred and transformative, that Philippe Di Méo seeks to restore. Each collection bears a name that refers to the invisible world. Les Eaux Delà, because perfume has always been what crosses over, what passes to the other side. Les Eaux de Peau, because before language, human beings communicated through scent, through skin, through the animal they still were. Les Eaux Sanguines, because wine and blood share the same colour and the same sacred intoxication. Les Eaux de l'Est, because the incense and spice routes shaped perfumery long before Grasse. And Les Eaux Imaginaires call on the great maps of desire, from the Carte de Tendre to the geographies invented by literature. Three perfumes per collection, always. For Philippe Di Méo, the number three is perfect balance: body, soul, mind. Past, present, future. Each bottle, designed like an ancient vessel with gold or silver stoppers, is a ritual object in itself. He describes his creations as talismans in the literal sense: objects charged with power, able to open something in the person who wears them.
