Incense in perfumery
Incense, or frankincense, is the resin of the Boswellia tree, burnt in temples since antiquity. In perfumery it is both fresh and resinous, lemony in the opening, then smoky and mineral, almost cold. It gives meditative, elegant fragrances, alongside myrrh, cedarwood, iris, rose or oud.
