Grand Beau

by Maurus Bachmann

Pine and juniper hit you first, spicy and Mediterranean. It is invigorating, clarifying. At the heart, everything calms down without going soft. A salty trace lingers. A fragrance that breathes, that never stifles you, that leaves room for air.

The fragrance

You are sitting under the pines, eyes closed, a few metres from the beach. That is exactly the feeling Grand Beau creates. The opening wakes you up: fresh, invigorating, bracing. You feel that mental clarity, that sharpness that makes you breathe more deeply.
Gradually the fragrance calms down without becoming sleepy. A softness arrives, but it does not smother you. It is more like a light caress, something discreet and reassuring. You stay present, alert, light.
In the base, you smell the sea air. Not oppressive, just a sense of coastal calm. The fragrance becomes more intimate, closer to your skin. It does not shout, it keeps you company. Comfortable without being lazy.
The overall effect: clarity and relaxation at once. For you if you want something that makes you feel good without wearing you out. A daytime fragrance with a gentle energy. The one you wear when you want to stay clear-headed while feeling at ease.

The brand

Thomas de Monaco is an independent perfume house founded in 2020 in Zurich by its eponymous creator, a Franco-Swiss artistic director and photographer. For more than twenty years, Thomas de Monaco shaped the visual language of the world’s leading luxury houses, Dior, Hermès, YSL, Armani, Cartier, and Rolex, while working in Paris, New York, and Zurich. It was his discovery of the Helmut Lang collection that marked a true turning point: a contemporary line, imbued with a subtle retro spirit, that continues to influence his work today. Perfume thus became another medium, the only one where the final image is not delivered by the creator but is constructed entirely in the wearer’s imagination. Based in the heart of a former Gustave Eiffel factory in Zurich, the house crafts its fragrances using artisanal methods, free from industrial constraints. Each fragrance is developed in close collaboration with perfumer Maurus Bachmann, under the creative direction of Thomas de Monaco. This is the essence of the house.” A designer house built on the conviction that fragrance is not simply worn, it complements the wearer.
