The Rebatchi House
Mohamed Rebatchi founded his house in 2018. Born in Créteil in 1991 to a family of Algerian origin, he started slipping into perfumeries in secret at the age of twelve, on his way home from school. With no training and no contacts, he taught himself, learnt the raw materials and sharpened his nose to the point of surprising the professionals. Things moved fast once he got in touch with the perfumer Karine Chevallier: that meeting opened the door to other big names, such as Maurice Roucel, Bertrand Duchaufour and Randa Hammami. Won over by his command of materials and his high standards, they gave him a freedom rarely granted to someone self-taught. Each creation brings together a perfumer, an emblematic material and a personal story. Bois d’Enfant, by Karine Chevallier, recalls the pine forests of the Vendée. Cuir Tassili crosses the Algerian desert. Bertrand Duchaufour makes Feu Patchouli smoke and crackle. Maurice Roucel composed Joyeux Osmanthe and Musc Panache. Across the collection, a bridge takes shape between two cultures, France and Algeria.
