About Parfum d’Empire
Behind this independent French house, founded in the early 2000s, lies an unusual path. Marc-Antoine Corticchiato was born in Morocco to a Corsican family and grew up between the family orange groves of Azemmour and the island’s maquis. A horse rider since childhood, he first turned to chemistry and spent years analysing raw materials in the laboratory before composing himself. The name of the house refers to the empire of the senses: for him, a fragrance does not speak only to the nose, it engages the whole body. His approach takes him back to the origins of perfume, at once erotic and sacred, as every civilisation has recognised. His compositions get straight to the point, powerful and free of frills, and rely on rare materials, often neglected by classic perfumery, chosen for their truth rather than their ease. Ambre Russe summons the court of the last tsars, Cuir Ottoman the splendours of the Orient, Azemour les Orangers the Mediterranean of his childhood. Recognition came from the profession itself: Corsica Furiosa won the FiFi Award for best niche fragrance in 2015, followed by Tabac Tabou in 2016, a first for an independent house two years in a row.
