Sandalwood in perfumery
Sandalwood is a creamy, soft, milky wood with a slightly buttery facet, very different from dry woods such as cedarwood. Mysore sandalwood, from India, remains the historical benchmark; Australian sandalwood and synthetic sandalwoods are the most widely used today. It makes warm, comforting fragrances, often paired with iris, vanilla, musk and milky notes.
