Gravitas Capitale

A metallic citrus cuts through a green tuberose stripped of all sweetness. Jamaican pepper and asphalt draw a vertical line, precise and icy.

The fragrance

The opening bursts with a clear, metallic citrus. Buddha's hand crackles with a cutting acidity. It immediately meets a green tuberose that refuses to open. No sweetness, no curves. It is raw, mineral, almost legalistic.
Jamaican pepper arrives, bringing a herbal, green vitality. Everything stays structured, vertical. Cardamom curls in lightly, a touch of controlled warmth. Somali incense weighs down gently. No crescendo, only vertical tension.
Wet asphalt settles in the base, recalling a courtyard emptied of cars. This is where the pulse slows. Haitian vetiver anchors it all without relaxing. Everything stays upright, silent, defined. A fragrance of architecture, without ornament. Precise as armour.

The brand

Première Peau is a French perfume house born in Paris around Pierre Mergui. Its story does not begin with a brand image, but with raw materials, formulas that took a long time to stabilise, bottles crafted like objects, and perfumers given free rein. After three years of development, the first collection launched in 2025 with seven extraits de parfum composed by Claire Liégent, Grégoire Balleydier, Ugo Charron and Florian Gallo. Each creation aims less to please at first sniff than to impose a signature: chalky iris, dense saffron, nocturnal jasmine, salty leather, truffle, ink, asphalt or abstract skin. Première Peau rejects decorative perfume. The brand stands for a more direct, more physical kind of perfumery, sometimes unsettling, where the materials keep their edges. What you wear with Première Peau is not just a fragrance, but an invisible, intimate, almost defining layer. A first skin, in the most literal sense of the word.
