Coup d'état

by Dominique Ropion - Jean-Louis Sieuzac
A sharp freshness that tips into a darker wood. Coup d'État gives an impression of a clean break, with a rapid increase in intensity. The fragrance is built around a distinct contrast between freshness and warmth, with an evolution that goes from a lively opening to something darker and more structured.

The Fragrance

Coup d’État opens on a fresh and sharp note, with an almost green and aromatic sensation that immediately captures attention. Then the texture becomes drier, woodier, with a slightly smoky side that adds character. Over time, the whole becomes denser, with woods and warmer nuances that give depth and a more pronounced presence on the skin. The fragrance maintains a certain tension, without becoming too heavy. It is a fragrance with dimension, with a clear evolution and an assertive signature.

The brand

Miles Wambaugh is a Franco-American artist born in Paris in 1965 to a Parisian mother and a Bostonian father, who was a musician and writer. He grew up in an environment where art was a second language, before settling in the Somme Bay, where he lives in harmony with nature, ornithology, and hunting. His perfume house was born from a conviction: "art is man added to nature," and from a decisive encounter. Guided by Pierre Dinand, the greatest perfume bottle designer in the world, responsible for Opium, Dune, and Amarige, he crossed paths with Dominique Ropion and Jean-Louis Sieuzac, two legendary perfumers at IFF. Ropion, creator of Portrait of a Lady for Frédéric Malle. Sieuzac, composer of Opium, Fahrenheit, and Dune. A rare duo, working for a painter. The collection consists of five perfumes, each corresponding to a Miles Wambaugh painting: Coup d'État, Sure Shot, Mood for Oud, Son of a Gun, Hot Shot. Names that resonate powerfully in both languages, oriental and direct at the same time. The natural raw materials come exclusively from Laboratoire Monique Rémy, a world leader in natural essences. Each box contains an original signed and numbered drawing by the artist, making each bottle a collector's item. Bottle, painting, and perfume vibrate together, like a unique work presented in three dimensions.
