The fragrance

Velvet Date opens on an immediate sweetness, with a sugary, plump date that gives an almost liqueur-like impression. Then the fragrance becomes thicker and more textured, with spicy and woody nuances that give the gourmand side structure.

Over time the whole becomes more melting, with woods and musks that smooth the composition and give it a very skin-like feel. The sweetness remains, but deeper and more comforting.

This is a gourmand, sensual perfume that plays on the richness of the fruit and a soft, almost addictive texture.

The brand

Maison Rebatchi is a French perfume house founded in 2018 by Mohamed Rebatchi, born in Créteil in 1991, the son of Algerian emigrants, who on the face of it was destined for none of this. At twelve, he would secretly wander through perfume shops after school. He taught himself, sharpened his nose and learnt the materials. No school, no network, no money, only a conviction and a knowledge of scent that ended up surprising those in the know. The adventure took a decisive turn the day he contacted Karine Chevallier. That meeting led to others: Randa Hammami, then Maurice Roucel, then Bertrand Duchaufour. With each collaboration, the same reaction: surprise at his command of materials and his ability to push perfumers ever further. Drawn to the man as much as to the project, these great names gave him what the industry rarely grants the self-taught: their trust and a free hand. Every perfume from the house is the fruit of this dynamic. One perfumer, one emblematic raw material, one personal story. Bois d’enfant by Karine Chevallier summons the pine forests of the Vendée. Cuir Tassili by Aliénor Massenet crosses the Algerian desert. Feu Patchouli by Bertrand Duchaufour brings smoke and spice. Joyeux Osmanthe and Musc Panache bear the signature of Maurice Roucel. Creation by creation, an invisible bridge takes shape between two cultures, France and Algeria.
