Angels' share opens on a very realistic cognac note, warm and slightly sweet, that instantly gives the impression of an aged spirit. Then the fragrance turns spicier and more textured, with cinnamon and tonka bean adding depth and a controlled sweetness.

Over time, the whole becomes more melting and cocooning, with vanilla, praline and sandalwood giving it an almost dessert-like feel, yet always elegant. The warmth holds steady, with a dense, very addictive sillage.

The story of Angels' share
Angels' share is the most personal perfume by Kilian Hennessy, heir to the famous cognac house. Its name refers to the angels’ share: the portion of spirit that evaporates from the oak casks as cognac ages. Perfumer Benoist Lapouza translated it into fragrance as part of Kilian’s The Liquors collection.

How to wear it
Two or three sprays are plenty: on the neck, the wrists and your clothes, where the base notes hold on longest. It lasts better on moisturised skin; in very hot weather, a single spray may be enough.

Kilian Paris is a perfume house founded in 2007 by Kilian Hennessy, an eighth-generation direct descendant of Richard Hennessy, founder of the cognac house of the same name, and grandson of the patriarch who oversaw the creation of LVMH. A heritage he chose to honour in his own way, by taking a radically personal direction. It all began with a final-year dissertation at Celsa on the semantics of scent, then training alongside the greatest noses, Jacques Cavallier and Thierry Wasser, before years spent at Dior and Armani. The decision to create his own house came from a visit to the Baccarat museum: faced with a century of perfumery condensed into bottles that were objects in their own right, Kilian realised that something had been lost along the way. He handed in his resignation the next day. His founding conviction fits into one sentence: 'True luxury should be eternal.' Every Kilian Paris bottle has been refillable from day one, in 2007, long before sustainability became a selling point.
