Angels' Share - Paradis

by Benoist Lapouza

A raspberry cognac, rich and gourmand, like a luxury dessert. Angels' Share - Paradis takes the DNA of the original Angels' share and makes it richer and more textured, almost a 'luxury boozy dessert'. The fragrance keeps the cognac base inspired by the Hennessy casks, but adds a fruitier, more gourmand dimension. This one is more opulent, denser and unapologetically so.

Who it's for, when to wear it

A unisex fragrance, woody and fruity. Wear it in the evening, on a date and for special occasions. Powerful sillage: it carries well beyond arm's length. Top Notes: raspberry, cognac. Heart: rose, cinnamon. Base: tonka bean, oak. Composed by Benoist Lapouza.

How to wear it

Keep it to two or three sprays: neck, wrists and one on a scarf or collar to stretch the warm notes. Moisturised skin helps it last; when it is very hot, a single spray will do.

The fragrance

Angels' Share - Paradis opens on a raspberry liqueur blended with cognac, sweet, slightly boozy and very comforting. It is rounder and more gourmand than the original from the very start.

Then rose gives the whole structure, adding a more elegant, lightly floral texture that keeps it from becoming too ‘dessert’.
Over time, the fragrance becomes thicker and more melting, with praline, tonka and woods lending a creamy, almost pastry-like feel, while that boozy warmth lingers in the base. The result is very rich, very addictive, with a real ‘evening gourmand perfume’ effect.

This is a more intense, sweeter, more polished version of Angels' share, clearly aimed at luxury gourmand.

The brand

Kilian Paris is a perfume house founded in 2007 by Kilian Hennessy, an eighth-generation direct descendant of Richard Hennessy, founder of the cognac house of the same name, and grandson of the patriarch who oversaw the creation of LVMH. A heritage he chose to honour in his own way, by taking a radically personal direction. It all began with a final-year dissertation at Celsa on the semantics of scent, then training alongside the greatest noses, Jacques Cavallier and Thierry Wasser, before years spent at Dior and Armani. The decision to create his own house came from a visit to the Baccarat museum: faced with a century of perfumery condensed into bottles that were objects in their own right, Kilian realised that something had been lost along the way. He handed in his resignation the next day. His founding conviction fits into one sentence: 'True luxury should be eternal.' Every Kilian Paris bottle has been refillable from day one, in 2007, long before sustainability became a selling point. The collections are organised around dualities of sin and innocence, light and darkness, love and the forbidden, all across four olfactory families: Fresh Citrus, Narcotic Flowers, Cellar Woods and Smoke Trails. Angels' share pays tribute to the vapours of the Cognac cellars of his childhood. Love Don’t Be Shy – Extreme has become a modern classic of sensual vanilla. Kilian Paris perfumes all carry a story and fully live up to their motto: Don't be shy.
