Melon Malo is the new Extrait Extrême from Born To Stand Out, the Korean house shaking up the codes of niche perfumery. Perfumer Jordi Fernández revisits the melon of his childhood summers in Spain, then that of South-East Asia's night markets, where heat, flowers and smoke make every sweet thing denser. A forbidden melon, far from fresh summery scents.

The opening bursts with honeyed green melon, lifted by candied ginger, cinnamon bark and mandarin. Bulgarian rose and rose petals then take over, mixed with red berries and patchouli that give the fruit a more carnal texture.

In the base, oud, cistus, Georgywood, leather and musks anchor the composition in a dark depth. Like the whole Extrait Extrême collection, Melon Malo has a concentration of 55 to 62% and is aged for three months in onggi, traditional Korean jars, for a dense sillage and exceptional longevity.

Melon Malo will appeal to lovers of unexpected fruity fragrances and night-time scents, looking for a signature that is bright, spicy and addictive all at once. If you like the house's dark fruits, try Black Mango and Black Guava too.
