Imperial Vanilla

by Rémi Barbier

A rich, imperial vanilla, somewhere between warm sugar and creamy elegance. Imperial Vanilla puts the focus on a rich, comforting vanilla, treated as a noble, almost luxurious material. The fragrance draws on the history of vanilla, once used in drinks reserved for the elite, with that idea of a precious, comforting sweetness.

The fragrance

Imperial Vanilla opens on warm, melting brown sugar that feels instantly sweet and dense, almost caramelised. The fragrance then unfolds into a discreet floral heart of rose and jasmine, which adds finesse and keeps it from turning too 'dessert'.

Over time, the vanilla takes centre stage, enriched with caramel and tonka bean, in a creamy, almost addictive texture. It all becomes rounder and deeper, with a steady warmth that stays on the skin.

This is a gourmand vanilla, but an elegant one, playing on richness and comfort with an almost 'sweet luxury' feel.

The brand

Majouri is a French perfume house founded in Paris in 2017 by Hadi Masmoum, who was born in Damascus, one of the world’s oldest capitals, into a family of perfume merchants. This dual heritage, the East of his childhood and the France of his upbringing, shapes everything the house does. The name says it all. “Maa,” meaning water in Arabic, and “Jouri,” the Damask rose: two words, two worlds, one house. It was in Grasse that Hadi Masmoum studied perfumery, falling in love with a Mediterranean light shared by both sides of his life, the light that nourishes both the Grasse rose and the Damask rose of his origins. This shared light has become the guiding thread of all his compositions. The fragrances are developed in Grasse in collaboration with renowned perfumers, to whom Hadi Masmoum grants genuine creative freedom, while inviting them to filter their work through his own olfactory sensibility. The bottle, designed by Pochet du Courval, a brand founded in Normandy in the 17th century and a benchmark of luxury, reflects this same dialogue: textured glass adorned with oriental arabesques, a gilded cap evoking a rising or setting sun, somewhere between the two shores. Refillable from the very beginning, long before sustainability became a trend, it is designed to last as long as the memory it carries.
