Gold noir

by Cyrill Rolland

A warm, spicy plum steeped in a dark, addictive gourmand sweetness. Gold noir is all about dark, spicy indulgence, with a real sense of richness and contrast. The fragrance plays on the idea of a material that is both opulent and controlled, somewhere between oriental warmth and a more structured elegance.

The fragrance

Gold noir opens with a spicy warmth of cinnamon and heliotrope, which immediately create a cocooning and slightly powdery sensation. Then comes the plum, juicy and dark, adding a deeper fruity note that gives depth to the composition.

Over time, the fragrance becomes more velvety, with vanilla and tonka bean providing a warm, addictive sweetness, supported by woody notes and a hint of leather that give it staying power.

It is an intense and sensual fragrance that plays on the contrast between spices, dark fruit and warm, indulgent notes, with a truly commanding presence.

The brand

Majouri is a French perfume house founded in Paris in 2017 by Hadi Masmoum, who was born in Damascus, one of the world’s oldest capitals, into a family of perfume merchants. This dual heritage, the East of his childhood and the France of his upbringing, shapes everything the house does. The name says it all. “Maa,” meaning water in Arabic, and “Jouri,” the Damask rose: two words, two worlds, one house. It was in Grasse that Hadi Masmoum studied perfumery, falling in love with a Mediterranean light shared by both sides of his life, the light that nourishes both the Grasse rose and the Damask rose of his origins. This shared light has become the guiding thread of all his compositions. The fragrances are developed in Grasse in collaboration with renowned perfumers, to whom Hadi Masmoum grants genuine creative freedom, while inviting them to filter their work through his own olfactory sensibility. The bottle, designed by Pochet du Courval, a brand founded in Normandy in the 17th century and a benchmark of luxury, reflects this same dialogue: textured glass adorned with oriental arabesques, a gilded cap evoking a rising or setting sun, somewhere between the two shores. Refillable from the very beginning, long before sustainability became a trend, it is designed to last as long as the memory it carries.
