Porcelana Cocoa

by Marie Hugentobler
A raw and elegant cocoa, between bitterness, warmth, and creamy sweetness. Porcelana Cocoa features a rare cocoa, crafted in a way that is both almost raw and elegant. Here, we're not talking about a sweet dessert-style chocolate, but rather the material itself, like a bean snapped between the fingers, with its simultaneously soft, bitter, and slightly powdery facets.

The Fragrance

Cacao Porcelana opens with a gourmet yet slightly dark warmth, with an almost liquor-like sensation from the rum, which brings a warm and gourmand feeling. Then the cocoa arrives, but not like a dessert: it's drier, slightly bitter, almost powdery. You can sense something refined, like a roasted bean. Afterward, the fragrance becomes more textured with tobacco and woods. This brings a deeper warmth, with an almost "warm skin" aspect, very sensual. Tonka bean and sandalwood soften the whole with a creamier touch, without ever making it too sweet.

The brand

Atelier Materi is a French perfume house founded in 2019 by Véronique Le Bihan, who hails from Brittany. This origin is reflected in the brand's identity, influenced by raw, mineral landscapes, and an approach to perfume centered on raw materials. Each fragrance is built around a main ingredient, developed to highlight its different facets rather than diluting it in a complex structure. The compositions remain clear, with a limited number of materials organized to support this central focus. The brand's universe also draws on architectural references, with a quest for clean lines, structure, and balance. This is evident in the design of the objects, particularly in a blue tinted glass bottle and a handcrafted concrete cap, the result of artisanal work. Finally, Atelier Materi prioritizes controlled production, relying on identified partners and artisanal know-how, with manufacturing predominantly carried out in Europe.
