The Fragrance

Mahina is comforting, with an almost tactile feel, like something creamy and warm melting on the skin. The approach is gourmand, with true elegance in the background. From the opening, one senses an immediate, slightly sweet, and very smooth softness, with an almost "nourishing" impression. There's something round and smooth that provides an instant feeling of comfort. Then, the fragrance evolves into an even creamier and more enveloping heart, with a velvety texture that accentuates this cocooning aspect. Over time, Mahina becomes warmer and slightly deeper. The notes take on a more sensual dimension, with a soft, musky, and subtly woody base that structures the whole. The drydown remains gourmand but balanced, with an elegant and persistent signature, balancing comforting softness and warmth.

The brand

Parfums d'Elmar is a Swiss brand founded by Elmar Métry, whose family crest adorns the logo of each bottle. His initial ambition was to create a house where luxury would not be a marketing promise but a material reality: the rarest ingredients, the highest concentration, and the most meticulously crafted object possible. The brand's unique technical feature is its 35% concentration of perfume essences, which it calls Quintessence de Parfum. While a classic perfume extract typically ranges between 20 and 30%, Parfums d'Elmar pushes this logic to its extreme to guarantee a deep and long-lasting presence on the skin. To create these compositions, the brand partnered with Mark Buxton, born in England, trained in Hamburg, and based in Paris, where he has been captivated by the city for over twenty years. Buxton, who created the very first Comme des Garçons perfume in 1994 and has worked for Givenchy, Cartier, Paco Rabanne, and Le Labo, is known for his motto: "Simplicity is the ultimate degree of luxury." His style, characterized by short, concentrated formulas where every note has a purpose, resonates directly with Elmar Métry's demanding standards. The bottles themselves are crafted from hand-polished crystal, topped with gold-plated caps adorned with over 360 crystals.
